President Sirleaf Makes New Appointments

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has made new appointments in government affecting a number of Government Ministry, public corporations and political subdivisions of the country.

An Executive Mansion release Tuesday night, named Mr. Johnson Gwaikoko, as Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Public Works; Mr. Andrew S. Allakamenin, Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Lavela B. Kortimai, Sr., Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Commerce, Dr. Marcus Dahn, Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Planning & Economic Affairs and Mr. Peter Ben, Deputy Minister for Administration, Ministry of Post & Telecommunications.

According to the Executive Mansion release, other appointments by the President are: Mr. Yancon-Dargbe Nimley, Assistant Minister for Economic Corporation, Ministry of Planning & Economic Affairs; Mr. Stephen Marvie, Jr. Acting Assistant Minister for Regional Planning, Ministry of Planning & Economic Affairs; Mr. Ernest Thomas, Assistant Minister for Energy, Ministry of Lands, Mines & Energy; Dr. Puchu Leona Bernard, Deputy Director-General for Human Resource Management, Civil Service Agency; and Mr. Geevon Smith, Superintendent, Rivercess County.

Others appointed by the President include Mr. Sampson Cephas, Assistant Superintendant for Development, Rivercess County; Ms. Mary Broh, Chair and Acting Mayor, Monrovia City Council; Ms. Letitia Reeves, Acting Mayor, Paynesville City Corporation; Ms. Miatta S. Tarnue, Acting Mayor, Bopolu City; Ms. Doris M. Sleboe, Commissioner, Wedjah District, Sinoe County; and Mr. Narroson T.Y. Kanyan, Sr., District Commissioner, Juarzon Statutory District, Sinoe County.

The Liberian leader has also named Mr. David M. Kolleh, Jr. Assistant Minister for Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sei Wonkonmie Gahn, Assistant Minister for Industry, Ministry of Commerce & Industry; Mr. Joseph Mayah, Acting Managing Director, Liberia Electricity Corporation; Mr. Vanmunyan Sheriff, Acting Deputy Managing Director for Administration, Liberia Electricity Corporation and Mr. Andrew Dean, Acting Deputy Managing Director for Operations/Technical Services, Liberia Electricity Corporation.

Meanwhile, the President has appointed a three-member team to serve as Interim Committee to manage the affairs of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority, pending the completion of a professional competitive recruitment process that will lead to the nomination of Commissioners by the Senate.

Those appointed on the Interim Committee are: Angelique Euphemia Weeks, Acting Chairperson; Harry Yuan, member; and Abdullah L. Kamara, member.
